So many fuddy duddies
about the place today
content with what they do in life
letting the planet pay
not understanding how the poor
suffer but grow strong
and treat them as if they don’t exist
which to me is completely wrong
Think of all those animals
they are not the brutes
they are not the voiceless
they too have their roots
many of them closer
to Mother Earth for sure
with an understanding
of the web of life they are more
in tune with their environment
for their feet touch the ground
we encase ourselves in concrete
and think we are heaven bound
it is us creating hell on earth
for the poor and for us all
who see the sky and hear the cry
and experience the call
For nature she is out there
she tries to right our wrongs
the oil spills and the the warring
and the terror as the throngs
march forward into battle
she sheilds us from so much
but we have found the forces
and being so out of touch
with reality, some of us
march forward into war
torturing the spirits
like we never have before
murdering the animals
for fun that is our gaze
and eating them and treating them
like just another phase
energy another concept
wasted every day
the wind the waves the water’s force
the sun and its great praise
humanity steps into the nuclear
debate
conjurs up such evil
at an alarming rate
Japan is swallowing down the pain
and quietly she goes on
plutonium and other sinful chemicals
upon
this earth, this precious
wonderland is soaking up the dirt
and still man unkind arrogantly
wears his seal skin shirt
alarming as it sounds
marcellus shale below the earth
2 miles down some natural gas
the frackers know its worth
to them, it is so personal
they are prepared to lie
telling us how safe it is
to extract it, which is why
I fight these greedy bastards
they forfeit freedom and
they cut into the strata
into someone else’s land
they risk our precious water
they risk our precious air
they are a fracking insult
to the local people there
The politicians praise them
and give them tax breaks, they
are as ignorant as the day is long
and they help to make us pay
for the pleasure and the runination
of this planet earth
they leave us with its embers
hopeful, of a clean rebirth.
A few around like Ian Crane
and others on the trail
stand up to the giants
and tell the honest tale
like candles in the night sky
they illuminate from far
and pay the price for doing so
wounded, how they scar
their spirit to be up there
fighting as they do
the poet pushes words around
and finds himself askew
but reality is on his side
as the mists are going to clear
and one hope that sanity emerges
and softens up the fear
