the victim is always the dog

This lad looks sore
and beaten
his fire extinguished by
man unkind who seems to find
an excitement and a high
in training dogs to fight each other
with in built hatred they
tear each other into bits
a trait of pure dismay
it is just exploitation
an initiative gone bad
a vehemence for nature
its double edged and sad
the pressure builds
the mettle is charged
and both dogs will
fight each other brutally
until one makes the kill
egged on by the handler
its loyalty it shows
with all its great velocity
its machinery does pose
it overcomes the brute strength
and fights for all its worth
in the hope that it can stop all this
and somehow just unearth
some creative spark of justice
some possibility
that there could be a period
of sweet tranquility
