Just a pig

Just one pig
surrounded by a lot of pigs
but she was clearly injured
and on her side
her legs were torn
with nobody who she
could now confide
she lay there
her cheeks sunken
her eyes glazed over she
was suffering
and that suffering
was picked up on
by well me
I was a undercover
investigator
and she was fortunate
in many ways
that I was in fact me
nobody was in the pen
I was all alone
so I have let her see the water hose
for she just hadn’t known
that it was there and dripping
and she could taste its sweet
coolness in her poor sad throat
and it helped her she could greet
whatever else was coming
with a new found thought or two
and that was that I was human
and I knew the thing to do
the tragedy of course was that
nobody else there
had any thought to help her
and that was her despair
humanity must find itself
must help those who feel low
show them where the water is
and watch them join the flow
