The Bull v The Matador

I simply have no sympathy
for murdering matadors
who come in at the end game
and take all the applause
the so called dashing prince like figure
clad in satins, he
comes face to face with wounded a Bull
who really wants to be

out of there
the spectacle
was too much for the Bull
he’s lost an awful lot of blood
and he’s had a bellyful
of god knows who
with lances and swords
and dirks and he
feels more like a pin cushion
than the handsome soul born free

after yet more swords are thrust
and the blood begins to be
swimming now inside his throat
his lungs were breached and we see
them filling up internally
he’s taking on such stress
and eyeing up the prince of thieves
whose trying to impress

he slices off the bulls ear
imagine the pain caused
he holds it up the crowds go mad
time stops its seems he paused
too long, just a few seconds
and slipped and the Bull was in
a horn went through his throat
up through his mouth via his chin
now whose losing blood
now whose feeling pain
now who begins to realise
blood loss drives you insane
the dying bull has got his own back
and the matador
at the very least is badly hurt
with a very damaged jaw

again I have no sympathy
the bull is killed outright
a sword thrust and he’s finished
he will never see the light
of day again
so brutalised by spectacle
which Spain regards as great
but of course its pure insanity
tradition seals his fate

his birthright was established
instinctively he knew
the bull ring was his theatre
that was what a Bullmust do
the pageant and the roaring crowds
those horses decked in gold
the picadore’s and toreador’s
clearly they were sold

on wearing down his patience
of softening up his power
of frustrating him
and riling him
and making him feel dour
then injuring him
tormenting him
creating in him woe
and with a bit of ingenuity
down the bull will go

but the matador is injured
and badly it would seem
a simple slip
the bull let rip
and it wasn’t any dream
but very nasty nightmare
and the conscious prince
received
a token of the Bull’s displeasure
for it clearly was aggrieved

I really couldn’t care a less
which isn’t good for me
Its what Bull Fighting engenders
some go along to be
shocked into submission
by the painful acts and they
go home again exhausted
others like me they pay
a heavy emotional price in fact
for we are with the Bull
we feel each thrust
it does disgust
for us the pain is real
the pageant is so shocking
it releases from our core
a hatred of a culture
that we never saw before
and we never want to see again
it was a one sided fight
one matador was injured
and will have an awful night
but the rest they murdered Bulls
and were judged as hero’s
for me they were the biggest cowards
around
the slaughter was inevitable
it was egregious mayhem
and the audience was lost
and never found
