From an inspirational story by Steve O about Nikki the pig Symphony the chicken and Fanny the cow

Nikki is a sow who was waiting for her death
in a corporate camp and was given another chance
when the flood waters rescued and swept her out the door
she swam off, had her babies
and looked after them for sure

she was just no numbskull
not even a bit
very smart and able
this story is no fable
the agony she’d had
where did it sit

when the floods came
she was out the door
and swimming on her way
found a dry spot on the land
built her nest a way above
had her piglets there
looked after them
she saved them
she showed she did care

had they been in the piggery
she would now be dead
the piglets would have all
been tortured
of course all underfed
the boars would have been
slammed into the concrete long ago
that’s what happens to them
if you didn’t know

now they are in a sanctuary
and their life will be good and long
out there in the woods they be
learning right from wrong

Symphony is a chicken
from some Ohio shed
intelligent and able
a Tornado could have led
her up the garden path
it ruined many months ago
but she got out and
limped away
the horrors as we know
those filthy cages
were so small she couldn’t flap her wings
the wind tore through the battery
with the mayhem that it brings

she’s now in a sanctuary
found in a tattered state
wandering down the highway
at quite a painful rate
most of her feathers blown away
her feet cut by the wire
but able to escape the hell
that had become so dire

Fanny she a cow just 4 years old
but tired and lame
not much more than a baby
almost out of the frame
how cows in CAFO’s suffer
two lots of calves she bore
were taken and were slaughtered
but her they did ignore

but now here in a sanctuary
she whiles her way, away
trying to forget the grief
feeling she did pay
a high price for existence
as a farm animal but she
got a second chance to live
and is taking it she be

in a place of safety
with green fields and with friends
she can feel the sunshine
and try to make amends

3 solid little stories
about farm animals who were
give a chance to live their lives
again
it does occur
to me that this is lovely
really lovely, to behold
if more of us were vegan
then more stories could be told

over and over again

vegans save 31 animals from death a year
just one person could tell 31 stories like this
and that’s better than graphic slaughterhouse terrors!
