E U Pig directive ( in Italy and Spain)

No matter which pig farm it seems
they went to
they visited eleven of them and they
not one abided by the directive
these poor souls got a pasting
every day
they are you see clear loving caring
earthlings
inquisitive and intelligent and they
left in barren crates must
just go bonkers
but that is what they were in
all the day

living in such squalor
the evil that does spill
living in their excrement
that alone now will
upset them for they never
do their business where they sleep
and for entertainment what they do
is play with it
to weep

I think the bloody handlers
should weep a bit for they
should clean these animals
of this muck
instead they kind of play
a sort of game of football
with their wretched poo
I suppose this is what prisoners
are inclined to do

rather than face tedium
brought on by the way
the farmers just neglect them
and its all through the day
injured pigs are left to fester
filthy crates abuse
a kind of sad foreboding
when normality you lose

The E U Pig directive
was issued to protect
these really kindly animals
from such abject neglect
but it appears to happen
throughout Italy and Spain
they suffer behind locked doors
the egregious of true pain

the laws are mean’t to help them
but inspection seems to show
that farmers do their own thing
they do not want to know
its all about the margin and savings
that can be made
and directives are seen as costly
by the ccorporate brigade

perhaps you bacon scoffers
you leg of pork and sauce
you pineapple and gammon
you might just think to force
the issue with the farmers
because there is an issue here
Pigs are being treated badly
now thats very clear

and since you eat their body
their flesh and blood for tea
why don’t you then look after them
that’s how it should be
you after all consume them
and seemingly don’t care
the tape worms will frequent your guts
more so than mine so there
