Arctic Tundra Wolves

Wild wolves are very clever
they have had to be
and particularly elusive
being man;s adversary
he has a mental block alas
understanding, he
persecutes them
he always has
really most unfairly
their worth he does not see
trapping even poisoning them
happens now to be
ranchers and their cohorts
in government repay
the wolves for being wild
and roaming as they do today

the tundra wolf a sub species
of the Gray
that has clearly spun
its territory out of arctic and boreal climes
and the drop in Caribou herds
affects the wolves, such times
puts pressure on the species
wolves to live 16 years
but ranchers are now
responsible for a lot
of wild wolf tears

Wolves will take a Caribou
but have a varied fayre
they will follow
the herds in so many words
its what wolves do they share
they are a proud and hardy tribe
of that we must be sure
man has tried every trick
he knows
he just seems to abhor
these handsome souls
who have battled through the ages
to exist
up against the hunters
who rule with an iron fist
