4 young hunters ( little children armed to kill)

We shouldn’t arm our children
and send them into war
the principles of killing
thats not what they are for
or let them go and take a life
pull their triggers
smile
create in them a cancer
that creates a kind of guile

to see 4 little children
sitting in the sun
with 2 dead bodies
prostrate
both killed with their gun
a gun some stupid parent
or friend have given to
them to go and kill
is not the thing to do

life is life
its sacred
you do not take a gun
and end another’s precious time
just for a bit of fun
it really isn’t clever
its sordid its all wrong
its not a part of a child’s life
for me they do belong

in a world where life
is cherished
protected and is whole
every living sentient
is a precious soul

killing its so final
there is no way back, they
have finished what they started
and took a life away

creation, all those miracles
made creatures great and small
and just because some ignorant
parent didn’t think that’s all

2 innocent kindly animals
lay dead and lost from life
all their potential stolen
instead untimely strife
for their existing family
waiting somewhere who
will never see or love them
which is what families do

and the children
was it funny
when the animals dropped dead
coughing blood onto the sand
from the great wounds in their head
screaming, gnashing all that pain
what effect did that have, on those
little children do
they value life
we may suppose
their view

is no they didn’t value
the life they took away
they didn’t understand how precious
life was, and to pay
that price for their experience
is to my mind very wrong
I say again to hunters
children do not belong

in the field or anywhere
where killings taking place
and parents who create that need
are a, blatant disgrace
they cast a seed that might grow
either way and they
must all be more responsible
and that is all, I am going to say
