Texaco and Chevron Please its 2013!

Texaco left virgin
jungle
in the depths of Ecuador
spewed with filthy pools
of crude
which ran into its heart
so rude

to see the jungle thereabouts
growing daily, you
can hear it
crying bitterly
and now what can
we do

streams once crystal clear
now thick with ooze
with vomit black
fish once skipped
and played
and strayed
faded, this attack

this vile
this truly nasty
this despicable
advance
the oil the sputum
lying in
the jungle
and not by chance

the vastness of this horror
the silence that’s now left
once a living breathing
soulful jungle
now bereft

lost
a violence settles
Texaco’s belief
to get out of this place
and leave behind
just growing grief

Chevron mighty Chevron
a corporate whose power
can topple
any mountain
this may be the final hour
the indigenous there are ravaged
their water compromised
many of them sick and ill
the courts have realised
but what does Chevron do about that
fights with all its might
the jungle has been wiped out
we all know that’s not right
The courts have said
that Chevron really has to pay
but what do they do
turn their heads,
and look the other way

I so appeal to both of you
for this is one mean streak
it permeates a virgin place
the crude clearly did leak
you have the means to clean it up
and so you ought to try
and leave it as you found it
and let no others die
