Bird song a little tale for Christmas for my friends

The roove’s were cold
and frosty
we had no place
to roost
our feathers tired
and tattered
emotions, sadly loosed
we snuggled up together
around the chimney stack
and let the nice hot vapours
sort of warm
our back
the wind was truly spiteful
it tore into us, we
got closer to the chimney
hopeful we would be
more comfortable
our tenderness I felt
and she did coo
my pretty little pigeon
my love for her was true
but,tragically she edged too far
and fell straight down the stack
I heard her gasp
I heard her cry
she was not coming back!
down into the burner
she’d gone
my heart it broke
how could I live without her
the tears, how they did soak
my very tattered feathers
so I decided I
would also take the leap of faith
into the fire, I’d die
but when I hit the ground
I realised there was no fire
and she was flapping around the room
and beginning, to tire
we slept together on the mantle piece
beside the clock
and in the morning early
the humans had a shock
finding us huddled closely
2 love birds, maybe so
but actually 2 pigeons
with no where else to go
