Urmia Lake in Iran

Why Governments do
what they do
only Time
will tell, and its Hell
and its one awful
climb
out of the beautiful lake
it once was
to a vast salty plain
Urmia because

poor judgement and less
thought on what could go
wrong
allowed the presumption
and so the great throng
was silenced by threats
and by subsequent power
and Urmia dies in a vast
salty shower

its creatures are suffering
death and destruction
the people around are
feeling the suction
gripping their spirit
sucking their soul
what the Government does
in its solitary role

in the case of Urmia has been
a sad thing
whoever brought forward
these damned dams did bring
a Natural resource very much
to its knees
toying with nature
an un winnable tease

Many will suffer
the vagaries that
Men do to others
and in essence not bat
an eyelid of care
for the spirits we lose
for the long term suffering
of course they refuse

to admit how they erred
but one day they will be
lost to the world
themselves tragically
Urmia may die
in the wink of an eye
but eventually man
will then see
how foolish he was
really because
we should just
let Nature be
