The Elders

There was a time
when the elders were our future
the past is gone but those memories
are still
there, as if in fact it was
just yesterday
some say for youth today
a bitter pill

might exist for some
embrace that youthfulness
remember the sacrifice of those
elders who now suffer
some resentment
its ill judged those
sweet souls now in repose

They cared for us when
we were very little
with their bodies
they shielded us,and so
now they reach their winter of
achievement
lets love them or they might
just up and go
