Belo Monte whose prayers will be answered

We stand at the crossroads
together
the mighty Xingu
runs its course
a judge prescribed hope
but the president’s rope
is tightening clearly
a source
of resentment
for all the communities here
who wait for the outcome
and feel
that President Dilma
is applying pressure
and the tipping point
now might reveal
the seriousness of this
effort
the red clay that burns
in each heart
Belo Monte creates
this resistance
corporate power
had a start
clearly this mission
is rolling
like the river
there is no way back
the indigenous people
are praying
and preparing
for some possible flack
there’s clearly a great deal of money
resting on decisions here
you have my support
and my sincere
thought
and whatever happens
its clear
great repercussions will follow
dire are the perils ahead
good sense will prevail
for the great serpents tail
is there in the clay that runs red
