Why I became Vegan and stayed the course till now

Leaving school a stint with
Macrobiotics
7 years of wisdom from the East
I was studying Chinese
in my spare time
and from time to time
enjoyed a Chinese feast
Sharks fins are abysmal
they are terrible
what is really
a cartilaginous mass
with chicken stock
and all this for a bowl of gloop
sharks are being slaughtered
in their millions
and the way its being done is bloody crass
I say this, because, the
Shark is almost perfect
an apex predator that we can say
and made to be
part of the wondrous ocean
and to cut their fins
and just throw them away
is vile, its cruel
its really rather typical
of those people with no respect
at all
they sacrifice the souls
so that human’s can
indulge themselves
it shows you
most are just not on the ball

Fishing that’s another
wasteful energy
profit, quota’s margin’s
its about, money for the corporates
the great huge factory ships
and now the farming companies
we have to get to grips
with so much sick technology
with serious damage to
the eco system across the species
doing what they do
Catching, all shapes and sizes
Trawling, Dredging, We
slaughter many species
in our hope and mastery
again its for the carnivores
who expect the fish to be
always waiting on their plates
and they now, clear the sea
and its a place, a dustbin
for the filth that we produce
our excrement, our chemicals
our plastics, I deduce
radioactive discharge, oil
and diesel too
nuclear waste its must be faced
a highly toxic stew
carnivores expecting
live souls to be there
fat and healthy on their plates
amazingly unaware

of what is really going on
underneath the sea
the massive over fishing
and bad practice now that we
a death knell for the species
and carnivores are to blame
it cannot be the vegans
for they’re not part of the game
the carnivores dead from the neck up
do not feel that pain
they cannot see the carnage
they only see the gain
Its selfish, its abominable
its ignorance, but they
expect their cans on supermarket
shelves for that’s the way

Oysters, Mussels, Cockles Whelks
Lobsters, Crabs and Abalone
Filtering the mucky water
our generous filth is not alone
we’re pissing in the cooking pot
of life that’s what we feel
other species, foods we utilise
krill and sand eel
stealing from the mouths of babes
the whales and the sea birds
the carnivores their wholesale greed
really there’s no words
they come and slaughter night and day
plunder, pilfer, steal
destruction of the corals too
that is what they do
Tuna there’s another mighty fish
and once again
its loaded full of PCB’s
and Mercury, and pain
John West and loads of others
are canning it like hell
and catching it in their millions
but few around will tell
Seine nets are really wretched
indiscriminately they kill
the Albatross, the Turtles
a lot of blood they spill
Sharks and Dolphins, Pilot Whales
and Marlin too do die
say paying 40 pence a can
and putting it in your pie

Vegan’s realise the serious
nature of the world
the terrible microcosm
in which we’ve all been hurled
animals eating GM soya
with people starving and
forests being cleared of trees
so as to use the land
for cows, for beef, for leather
the vegan of course sees
the need to keep the forests
and the mangroves, as the keys
to the planets equilibrium
but not the carnivores
not the bloody TV chefs
and the corporates loud applause
jokes are made of vegans
of buck teeth and big ears
they fail to see the murmurings
the terror and the fears
the Halal killings day and night
the blight that this does cause
every second of every hour
there now is just no pause
cows and calves and pigs and sows
and lambs and goats are all
being tortured, sacrificed
upon each blood stained wall
But the carnivores can’t see it
won’t see it, they can’t bear
to even think its happening
they too so unaware
Humanity is crumbling
the holocaust is here
its happening behind close doors
such adversity,such fear
animal earthlings dying
or being exploited by
the corporates, the super stores
the wholesalers and why
because the dumbed down masses
are now dictated to
by the Meat Trade
and the TV chefs
and by all and sundry who
dose these willing docile souls
up with drugs and more
unbalancing the carnivores
like, never before
injecting GM bugs and viruses
flesh full now, and
it not only affects consumers
but it also affects the land
animals wastes pollute our water
and pollute our air
we vegans have the right to say
that we are so aware
we pay our rates and you carnivores
are creating havoc here
everyone is suffering
but you just won’t appear
to understand the gist of it
your judgement is off par
cancers and heart disease are rife
oh! yes Oh! yes they are
Organic vegans really
care, their ethos is supreme
they don’t allow the pesticides
that now float in the stream
that maim and scar
the universe
that get into the sea
that kill the corals everywhere
and soon no where will be
free from animal wastes
and all the chemicals they use
food thats wasted on them
that really does abuse
the planet as the forests die
and habitats decline
and the wild souls living in them
have no where left to dine
whole grains had great balance
with nutrients galore
but the carnivores are out there
wanting more and more
refined food, fast food, crap food
which the corporates provide
you fall into their deadly trap
its like mass suicide
if more of us were vegan
the planet it would see
less people starving on this earth
for the animals would be
only those that were needed
not the clones and massive herds
fed on half the soya that’s produced
I’m lost for words
and the great lungs of the planet
have been razed to the ground
and has now brought forth
the super weeds where the super bugs
abound
I am an ethical vegan
this is what I do
You carnivores should listen
for what I say is true
I have no axe to grind here
I too, must survive
but killing and torturing animals
is no way to stay alive
And pandering to the corporates
is as foolish as can be
If you don’t listen and listen good
You’ll be back in slavery.
