“Britches”

Spatial sensing for the blind
in the monkey world
they thought they’d find
the answer in the University
at California Riverside
Psychologists
believed that they
were better placed
and Macaques could pay
they took him from his mother
despite how much he cried
Imagine, how both of them felt
a little soul called “Britches”
his eyelids sewn together
this poor wee soul was blind
when the Liberation boys got wind of this
what they did find
when they raided the facility
clearly determined they
found the the little angels
and saved them
right away

from torture in the
third degree
these so called medics who
had carried out experiments
on tiny babies too
behaviour and neural development
sensory substitution
a device attached to “Britches” brain
accepted a solution
Activists found “Britches”
cowering in a cage
his face covered in bandages
his shock went off the page
the cruelty was clearly
beyond the proverbial pail
whatever the Pychologist’s said
they should all be thrown in jail
in stead of that when questioned

“Britches” was examined
by a veterinary who said
the eye pads were all bloody
and really this had led
to infection and more agony
the sutures far too long
for a baby, it was horrible
the whole damn thing was wrong
really they had been unkind
to tiny infant souls
science clearly gets it wrong
chasing the wrong goals
the blind can never benefit
from torture or from pain
exacting this on babies
again and again and again
is a terrible indictment
its basically far too cruel
and the laboratory
has stopped this work
the pain did over rule
“Britches” did recover
though it took a good long while
and he went off to a sanctuary
and enjoyed a life in style

In the present state of affairs
these psychologists are seen
as advancing medical science
and ALF are a vile machine
terrorists criminals burglars
when caught should be put away
which goes to show, in this world of ours
there’s still a lot to say
its really sick beyond belief
Corporate power is immense
in the name of science
all this makes no sense
the animals must suffer
be tortured and be slain
be connected up to instruments
that cause the greatest pain
and thinking souls
and caring souls
must just sit back and say
science is now paramount
and the animals must pay
whatever price and terrorists
are labelled and will be
incarcerated and experimented on as well
eventually
