Lobelia’s (named after the Belgian Botanist Mathais de Obel)

The Indian Tobacco or Lobelia
Poisonous to cattle,goats and sheep
Native to the America’s
An annual or Perennial
An enchanting flower
When sowed of course we reap
A Bee atractant and some lovely
floral sights
Blues, and purples, reds and even
stunning whites
The sap can cause an irritation
that’s something to note
Its has been used for Asthma
and problems via the throat
But it is, a poison
of this Please be aware
So wash your hands before handling food
And treat the plant with care
The Native Americans smoked it
It has alkaloids galore
it will induce much vomiting
a fact we can’t ignore
Slugs enjoy its flavour
and surprisingly are immune
it need rich moist ground
it needs partial shade
and is partial to some sun
Remember always to keep it moist
And be proud of what you’ve done
