Darkness hides

Darkness hides
so much of what we’re used to
trees and plants
they are lost, inside the cloak
of blackness that descends
upon,each of our worlds
the child within us
needs to crack a joke
sounds are magnified
and imagination
goes into fifth gear
at a stroke
looking though a window
without a curtain cover
can put the fear of God
and almost choke
the eyes play tricks
and fear becomes
apparent
in the light of day
there is no fear
but darkness hides
so much of what we’re
used to
and truly its emergence
becomes clear
