I saw a black spider in Darwin

I saw a black spider
an intelligent soul
climb up my hotel wall
and go into a hole
It was 2 in the morning
and the chap on downstairs
Said Don’t worry sir
Just say 1 or 2 prayers
But I’m not religious
no matter he said
close your eyes
go to sleep
spiders are well fed
Well I woke in the morning
no swelling no pain
and assumed that it just
did not come back again
