Aboard the Ghan

Adelaide Parkland Terminal

I have to say farewell

I will not come back ever

For me the trip was Hell

Freedom Australia changed

My booking very late indeed

The grand old Chifley, Sorry

Hadn’t come up to speed

A great big wondrous cemetry

And the Ghan is where I be

Moving towards Darwin

in a train of quality

Anthony has introduced himself

to me and says that he

will look after me

all the way and did it

 excellently

A trip of utter magnitude

Through, those vast wild miles

The great Ghan rolls collecting souls

And mine is here and I

Disabled by disease but comforted

now by.

The Ghan, the staff  excited

by the vista rolling by

The great Ghan stumbles forward

In the blink of a mind’s eye
