Biodynamics in Kuching

A Biodynamic Farm someway from kuching
Cacao was the specialism here
But fish in ponds and Ducks and loads of chickens, and varied fruits that brought the family cheer
A really mature Durian Tree and pineapples in pots
Water melons as crimson and as sweet
As anything that I have ever tasted
And Chinese pointed olives, the elite
Of Olives, in the Chaojiu kitchens
Salty but a terrific tasty treat

Managed by a man of dedication, 2 Dayak helpers and a Penan who
All wanted to live out his great vision
A real hard slog with smiling faces too
Surrounded by deep jungle, hot and very wet
One could really hear plants growing the freedom not to let
The reason why we got up early every single day
And went out in the morning as the sun showed us the way
We worked all day at those aching chores
and came back before the skies
Lost the light completely and were made to realise
We always were exhausted and our hands were black and blue
From stripping side shoots, cracking fallen pods, under our shoe
For otherwise the pods would harbour the Denggi mosquito and
Could cause a horrid outbreak to spread across the land
So we went out there, every day under a blazing sky
Generally endocrine disrupters would be sprayed on high
From the most inadequate sprayers, young women, aimed the jet
To hold back tears each time, I recollect, the gals I met
Where the richer farmers made their staff, spray right through the plants
Young women with young sisters they didn’t stand a chance
Stirring these vile substances with bare hands, and with tears
Nothing to protect them they were little dears
With awful scars, and where breathing was so difficult to do
Sacrificing those poor women
Dark days for us all
And so many of the corporations really made a fool
Of anyone who tried to change the practice now abroad
Stopping it,cost money which they could ill afford
The artisan chocolate processor was as rare
as a white tapir
But a BD Farmer is prepared to work hard which is clear
Day and night, hands bleeding like Daniel
He didn’t stop
But most paid the young girls to slave and spray Lindane all day
And they sat on their balconies and read The Guardian  come what may
Biodynamic Farming of Cocoa clearly does
Improve the rich environment and it gave me a buzz
And it wasn’t from the caffiene but from the
knowledge base
anthroposphical training brought wisdom and brought grace
His fish were in ponds, beneath his chicken stacks
The Ducks and chicken fed would let the seed drop through the cracks
Some of the faeces also would fall into the pond
exciting the biggest of the worms on which the fish were fond
And so they grew much faster and were sold
at market they
Were also bought by Hotels and restaurants
and a good price they did pay
Chicken Eggs and Duck Eggs the shells of which were brown
were also sold at a premium on the stalls in Kuching Town
My visit to the Farm was satisfying
I worked hard all the time that I was there
I learned a great deal and tasted some amazing fruits
And the families generosity did share
