Since the dawning of time
The aboriginies knew
What they had was their life
honoured gift
They had discipline and an innate
love of oneness
Which truthfully gave them the lift
They lived in the moment
proud and responsible
They were connected and free
Spirituality, Family and Land
Their beliefs were the essence, the key
To their being, all seeing
they had the confidence
Their purpose of life was to be
Caring and sharing and knowing exactly
They knew and of course they could see
It was perfection they realized that
There were no improvments to make
They had evolved and in spirit had solved
Everything for their own sake
Then the white man arrived
His arrogant wave of prejudice
washed through the land
It gripped them, it forced them
to be like the white man
of course they did not understand
Their culture was torn away
Language and all
They were murdered
and their children stolen
the gall ,it shattered a proud
people striving to be
What they had always been
wonderfully free
The white man had everything
all that they wished for
We on the other hand had to conform
Live in their boxes with wire fences
high
We were imprisoned
alone in the storm
Lost in the darkness
cans of coke everywhere
sniff petrol and hope
that our life of despair
Would end realizing
we couldn’t go back to
The bush any more
to the land thats was ours
For the white man had stolen it
And left us wanting
On ugly waste ground
There they did house
Us far away from the wonderful
settlements, swimming pools
all the mod cons of the age
We just existed in dustbowls
of terror
A lost people living our
moment of rage
