Please don’t throw us in the cold

Born to be alongside You
Animal earthling souls are we
Our relationships are close
on happiness and adversity
What we eat is chosen for us
We have feelings, so we do
Characteristics from our cousins
Instinctively we take a view
Out there is the wild far yonder
Hunting with a prowess, we
Can also curl up by the fireside
Dreaming of the mice that be
Out there in the compost heap
illuminated by the moon
We put in our share of effort
And our reward is coming soon
Human Beings rule our manor
Setting parameters every day
We pick up each and every problem
We share the pain and sometimes pay
Neglect, comes to us, cruelty
Its seems I have to go
I’m worried and my bowels are shakey
I sense he doesn’t want to know
He doesn’t want to pick my poop up
I didn’t mean to do it there
In the kitchen by the fridge
Underneath his chair
I know he’s stressed
and he doesn’t have money
and clearly I will have to go
Its in the box and to the forest
Good bye old son I think you know

I’ve wound up in the pound picked up
by the van I’d given up
The forest all those eyes were watching
and me really I’m just a pup
I can’t be wandering in dark places
on my own not me. not me
I just sat quietly by the roadside
Hoping for some real pity

But no one came just the pound man
Now I’m in a cage alone
But there’s lot of cages in this place
and lots of dogs, and how some moan
Its no use crying that won’t help me
inner whimpers seem to be
What I must create believing
That someone somewhere will come for me.

I have a number 6454AC32, thats me
Its draughty, and the food is awful
the water’s green yes I can see
A few days of this is gonna get me down
Perhaps I could get away
When they come inside to clean
Just possibly I’ll run away
But all my dreams just didn’t happen
No one came for me Today
People came but chose the others
I realise now, and I’m quite okay
I’ve heard they gas us at this place
Into a big tin box we’re thrown
All these thoughts go through our heads
Thats when we know we are on our own

Its then I heard his car I’m sure his daughters voice I’m sure I heard
Daddy there he is sweet Georgie
I am waiting on her word
Come on Lad we thought we’d lost you
How we missed you, come on home
Sorry old chap that won’t ever
Happen again, no more to roam
I am thankful they came for me
Others will be killed for sure
and others will be so neglected
their ribs protuding and every paw
cut and bruised where they’ve been beaten
I am going home farewell
I am going back to Heaven
and many here will go to Hell

Human beings must remember
each of us is a sentient soul
We came upon this earth to comfort
Each an angel with a role
To love a child, to guide a blind man
To work the sheep, or be a pet
To neglect to feed us or treat us cruelly
Is really building a karmic debt
Human Beings please remember
each of has love to give
We came on earth to share your lives
Please Give us the chance to live.
