Guy Fawkes Night

wild animals and pets must find it difficult
To understand what happens on this night
The hedgehogs in their home beneath those stacks of wood, the pets around who get distressed in spite
Of being in a lovely home environment
But hear the bangs and crackles from outside
The roman candles shooting several coloured balls
such fear and trepidation, as they hide
Cowering in the corner of some garden, or out behind a shed they’re petrified
The hedgehogs may be trapped now in the bonfire
and burn to death within their winter hide
Technology has clearly moved on obviously
and explosive forces rock the night away
Many an animal’s heart may reach a nervous state
and many may be harmed along the way
Whatever, the birds, the bats, the mice, the reptiles
All of them must face their share of woe
Not understanding really what its all about
And in essence truthfully, suffering so
