The iconic Kangaroo is not safe in Australia anymore

I know quite a lot about Australia
having travelled more miles there
than most
Kangaroos are being slaughtered
all the time
restaurants mostly serve their flesh with toast

I booked out of two hotels who had
wild meat on the menu
they thought I was mad, perhaps I was
but they are such
insensitive creatures
the hotel managers I mean
really up the top
well just because

the most iconic creature
needs protection
you will seldom see them
they are so defiled
shot and ambushed their babies stomped on
its very rarely you see them in the wild
right across the Nullabor not one, did I see
all the way to Darwin
it was yea, Roo free
all the way to Cairns not one
and to Brizzy then by rail
not one did I see
just loads of bloody sugar cane
looking back at me
the roo is killed here mercilessly
its an evil that they hold
their hearts are made of beer and flesh
the hunters are so cold

Un yet up close its such a lovely
soul, and cares
more about the environment
it lives in and it shares
a place with the aboriginie
who also gets bad press
who also cares a lot about
a lot
and seeks redress
but those first people
those sweet souls
those guardians who knew
about the earth
and its worth
they are shunned that is my view
