The great bathing ( of dogs) in China

Street dogs have their problems
there are many hazards and
fleas and ticks and lice
all sorts
and to understand
that takes on a cognitive
realization and we
when appreciating the problem
and being prepared to see

In China there are problems
not least one of its size
its own population and its animals
a rise
in numbers
lots of street strays
and a policy alas
of killing them and eating them
and catching them on mass

the event known as the bathing
does just allay those fears
with assistance by a band of really
toughtful volunteers
who come along who give their time
to bathe the dogs and free
them from the dirt and pestilence
that otherwise would be

causing them aggravation
its shows you what we can
do for other earthlings
whose life’s gone down the pan
and don’t look so vibrant
and can’t they see its great
wagging tails and soft warm barks
really each does wait
to have their bathing treatment
its hands on and its good
every dog feels better
and of course it should

this is good for China
for the cesspool which we’ve seen
the tragedy of history
of the killing that’s obscene
the heartless and vile butchers
that work in markets where
dogs and cats are caged up
and living in despair

so slowly things are changing
the irrational begin
to understand the chaos
and from all that the sin
is misplaced in society
and must be filed away
what was born out of negligence
there’s clear evidence today

activists are surfacing
examining the role
a moral code apparent
each must have a goal
a keen appreciation
to discover a new way
to expose the dreadful practices
in a kind of expose

the great bathing is so wonderful
the dogs appreciate
look at the joy that they express
it is a marvellous trait
in dog who show their loyalty
their love and abounding care
and given this understanding
hopefully will fare

better in the scheme of things
and get a better deal
that a premonition
perhaps the way I feel
imagination gives us
a perspective yes on call
and perhaps the canine tribe
will blossom
now for one and all
