We are the monsters

Contempt for life forms
Puppy dogs they
We’re found in rubbish bags
Driven away
Wrapped up in black sacks
Unworthy it seems
Despicable humans
With terrible dreams
Innocent babies
Soulful and cute
Tied up in plastic and
Tossed down a chute
Venality spivvery aiding and abetting
Betrayal and treachery
It’s a felony letting
Unscrupulous carers
To just throw away
These bundles of fur
Bringing so much dismay

Not only to the animals
But to passers by
To the refuse truck drivers
Hearing them cry
How wicked and immoral
Such flagrancy
For little puppy dogs
Such devilry

Eternity beckons
A slippery slope
Chuckling canines
How can they cope
On their way to the tip
To be ground up maybe
Unspotted dears
Subjected it seems
To illegality

A true misdemeanour
An ugly act
Overstepping all marks
And that is a fact
Transgressing toe rags
Exceeding the law
Sentenced to death
A perversion what’s more

Self centred creeps
Egoistically
A sinful stench
Such depravity
Yelping imagining
Goodness and grace
Each sense of honour
With justice in place
Upright and happy
Soul-searching they
Bobbing along
At the end of the day.
