Outlook

A mesh of branch and twiglets
Old leaves still clinging fast
A silhoutte of darkness
Winter stands aghast
With frost in early morning
And A glaring light filled sky
Skelethal mannerisms
Which no one dare deny

The Cherry looking wretched
Its leaves both damp and wet
Looking wholly tattered
Clearly looking set
For weeks of cold and darkness
For a vapid loss of hue
Winters energising scourge
Somehow poking through

Gnarled engrossed in torment
Victims all might say
Out there in the elements
Every single day
Sleeping in a time warp
Preparing for a time
When no birds will be sitting
And no animal will climb

Winter in the offing
Yule the corner round.
A brutal sky above
Us
A damp and frozen ground
Ever changing outlooks
A great halo of grey
This is the new November
Where the countryside must pay
