it really is a sick world we inhabit
At this time
The skin of many animals
Thought to be divine
By some who want their custom cars
Bags and belts and shoes
And they choose the distressed durable leathers
Here are a few views
ELephant it’s above board it’s CITES
Certified
It’s only a by product
And everything is denied
Canned and trophy hunting we hear excuses flow
We are feeding the local people
Oh yes of course we know
And it’s conservation and it’s harvesting and more
Every excuse in the joke book
All of which I ignore
They are creating markets
for exotic leather and
Are increasingly in need of skin
so you can understand
Elephants and hippo’s
giraffes ZEbra’s they
are popular
Crocodiles and caimans so they say
We are a bunch of losers the richer we become
When arrogance strikes through our hearts
And souls and makes us numb
To what is really going on
we establish markets and
Then the animals have a use
the flames you see are fanned
By profit and more animals
of course are going to die
To feed the local tribesman
it’s all a great big lie
Leather is the skin of animals
who prefer to be
Living and not murdered
thats what I want to see
Any excuse to kill these beasts
when markets need more stock
ELephant leather is crazy
it’s cruel and in the dock
Should be those out there in Africa
supplying this precious skin
The elephants trunk the elephant ears
we seem to under pin
All these mail order traders
in exotics around the world
And elephants are dying
and their skin is being hurled
Into the exotic leather trade
Which the brain dead
Want to buy
They have the money
but they haven’t the ethic
It really makes me cry
How we indulge our greediness
and ignorance in this
Murder of the shared wild life
which really and truthfully is
Indulgence, it’s beyond the pale
and what we have to do
Is tell the world how mad some are
and let’s all take a view
With so much pressure on existence
What chance is there for
The elephants the hipp0’s
Who live outside our door
Poachers hunters taxidermy
The leather trade and more
Everyone wants a bit of you
Even the so called poor
To be a real wild animal
In Africa today
Is worse than living in a hell
And there is nothing that we can say
Except to ban these practices
Already tons of cows
Are slaughtered daily
For shoes and boots and bags
And of course sows too
And so we turn to exotics
No creature dare to be
Seen where it was created
Walking wild and free
Humans are repulsive
Let’s agree on that
