Living in a vacuum

Living in a vacuum
Eating meat each day
Devoid of how it got
Onto
Their plate,
all I Can say

From farm to fridge
Denied all rights
Fresh air, sunlight and rain
All of them living creatures
With hearts with legs
With a brain

So we show them all at random
At a music show
Really Show them how
the animals live
The pigs the sheep
And, the friendly
cow

Tortured
Then simply murdered
So you can eat them
You
Can roast them with your potatoes
As you like to do

and just observe their faces
How uneasy they appear
How surprised they flinch and wince away
Clear they feel the fear
Wrong headed and impractical
Prepossessed and predisposed
An air of gullibility
This whole ball game exposed

The disbelief and ignorance
The undoubting the unsure
The agnostic and the miscreant
Before they did ignore
With a little hesitation
Untenable we feel
On the strength of all of this
It’s something they conceal

They knew it must be happening
In the CAFO on the park
That bloody awful building
So wretched and so stark
The great iron doors that roll on wheels
And the roof of corrugation
The gutters that take all the blood
Away for their salvation

The faces of the random people
Watching as they die
Their throats cut how they choked
And gushed
We might now ask them why

Such evil is created
Such darkness is around
The absurdity of error
Now out there on the ground
The delusional insanity
The madness on my mind
The fatuous the fallible
Is clearly underlined
