Longleat and its Lions

I am sorry

killing 2 Lions

and 4 cubs

does not ring true

I don’t care for excuses

these lives were precious too

their deaths smack

of poor judgement

that has to be my view

I am sure they had

some discussion but

a sanctuary must see

that death is not the way to go

its wrong

its a tragedy

for all of us soon marching

in London and for those

people really everywhere

who realise it grows

inside us all

the passion of saving Lions

from grief

not killing them in a sanctuary

that is beyond belief

the staff we hear were mortified

they couldn’t believe their ears

these are precious beings

the decision it appears

seem to be taken very casually

and their lives were lost and I

can never ever imagine

why they had to die

and excuses dont make sense to me

not between life and death

it just seems so convenient

to deny them the breath

of life in some other location

these were healthy souls

maybe they were aggressive

that is their feline roles

I will never go to Longleat

they have lost me for all time

the decison was a bad one

hence the reason for my rhyme

6 lives were lost in one foul stroke

which does so seem to me

a piece human terror

inflicted tragically

on 6 precious unique souls

iconic through and through

shot to death

devoid of breath

and their terror

down to you
