The carousel

How long have we danced on the carousel

a round and a round we have run

the music once it moved us

but the same old tune

it deafened us thats what it has done

we love the children on our backs

we get tired sometimes but we

sought freedom from a magician

and he gave that and we

are off into the forest

into the evening light

to leap over gates and run through streams

we are now horses by right

we have done our stint on the carousel

we are free to run and play

its our Christmas wish

its enchanting to

find our feet today

We sought the hills

with its icy thrills

with the moonlight on our backs

some leaves and grass

would be first class

a cave where we’d relax

far away from the carousel

from the tedium to where

mysteries and  lakes of blue

where the world is more aware

we can gallop and walk

and together talk

to the wild Hares and the fox

we can play together

use a pigeon feather

and sleep among the rocks

freedom to do what we want

to taste the air and dew

we did our stint on the carousel

and we’re off to pastures new
