“Bibury”

On the River Colne
A tributary of the Thames, water cold
And clear
Duck families Swan and Moorhens
Rapidly appear
Looking down from off the wall
In Street the vibrancy
Of crystal water and bright green plants
It is a joy to see

All that rich zooplankton
Watching the ducks survive
By dipping their heads
And consuming the riches
With such enormous pride
Those honey coloured cottages
All along the way
Arlington Row on Awkward hill
Built centuries ago

As a monastic wool store
But converted to
A row of weavers cottages
Imagine that will you
When Richard 11 was king here
In 1380 he
Ruled when the 100 year war
Was raging
Imagine That would be
Horrendous to imagine
Looking at them now
A Cotswold dream location
Exclamation WOW

The street allows some parking
And sitting on the wall
Looking up at the verdant growth
Wild the frantic call
Of myriad birds cavorting
Red kites circling too
Pigeons blackbirds varying songsters
Make our dreams come true

Valerian and other plants
Growing on the wall
Fed by joy and laughter
And spirits as a rule
Of thumb, the many tourists
And visitors come share
The hidden gems of Bibury
And all the wonders there

Masses of wild roses
Of every kind of hue
Bursting with benevolence
Fed with copious dew
You can feel the exuberance
Prolific and verboseb
Harmony and euphony
All so grandiose

It truly is a dreamy place
Where streams of consciousness
Work into one’s monologues
A blessing for the blessed
A faultless perfection
Quintessence actually
A place sought out to paddle
And of utter jollity.
