Tragedy on the Cassia Road

The Cassia ROad outside the mushroom farm
And what we found
Was a mother and her baby
Lying on the ground
Both were badly injured
The baby gravely so
The mother was lying on the bank
Where the thick lantana grow

This is a busy interchange
And its heavy traffic there
Clearly her baby was in the road
And the mother so aware
She had to try to save it
Though in shock and awe she be
Threading through the traffic
And ber baby she could see

Clearly the mite was dying
And she had been hit too
Suffering such agony
And was weakened Through and through
Bloodied up and broken
Clearly in harms way
Both were in a sorry state
Both had been made to pay

Drivers look at wild ones
As a menace sometimes they
Dont feel the angst the mother feels
Its galling in a way
They just should not be on the road
But then monkeys have always been
Wild there it is woeful
To observe this awful scene

We caught up with the mother
Had placed her baby near
She clutched at it in earnest
And held her baby dear
Cuddling it and carressing it
Our Heartstrings tightened as we
Felt that anguish and disquiet
Erupt depressingly

They both had become victims
Their agony we shared
Crossing the road was impossible
Both were clearly scared
The traffic there so heavy
An Awful way to go
So Unbearable to realise
This pathetic tale of woe
