It was absolutely pouring leaving Bangladesh
We went into Tripura a hilly state to see
A place where traditional hill tribes
And religious groups now be
TRipura and misoram off the beaten track
A growing population here
Habitat loss attack
The spectacled langurs and cloud leopards
Have no place to go
Now they are in zoo cages
As our cameras did show
At the Tio River
There is MYSNMar
And the chin hills and the chin state
Now this is where we are
We took the death slide over there
And trecked down to the place
Concerned about the soldiers
Having now to face
Them would be so difficult
Because the BBC
Was banned and wasnt able
To visit actually
So we decided anyway to visit
Just to see
Went into this vile regime
Leaving the largest democracy
They are the forgotten people
From the forgotten land
A cock crowed a dog ran
It was hard to understand
No white man had been there before
Clearly a dangerous place
We didn’t stay there very long
And rather than lose face
Thanked them and then said goodbye
Back over on the death slide
Back over into Mizoram
On the Indian side
Several poems based on tropic of cancer video from the BBC
Laos through to Bangladesh/INdia and BUrma.
