cages and cages of primates
joylessness its in their eyes
dispirited, misery clearly despondent
comfortless thats no surprise
stolen from out of the jungle
soon slaves they all will become
some go for bush meat
others for torture
no wonder now
they seem numb
skins hanging torn off
of bodies
shot in the darkness and they
all were once earthlings
living and loving
till man came along
and did spray
the jungle with fire power
and cut down the souls
pools of blood everywhere
lack of controls
vile poaching men
with their wretchedness who
came to shoot elephants
thats what they do
a great melancholia
hangs from the sky
heart ache and sorrow
as more souls must die
inconsolable grief
disillusioned and lost
creative life is the sinful cost
victims are everywhere
wretches alone
hung on a hook and skinned
as they moan
as they cry as they bleed
there are humans a foot
ready to buy up their skins
and to put
them into the rag trade
thats where they go
the dead skins of many
help profits to grow
aloof to the suffering
impassive and cold
unconscious unsmitten
everythings rolled
up in a callous and shameless
affair
unshaken unshocked
and full of despair
we have to learn from them
they already know
the poaching and trapping
and hunting now go
hand in hand
with the slaughter the canned hunts
the pain
a great roar was once heard
but never again
