Mothers who become Downers

Those of you who sup the milk

of cows of goats of ewes

have really  got to realise and realise quickly

that the screws

you turn

on these  sweet mothers

who came to earth

to be

giving to  their

offspring

though defiantly not to thee

Dairy products per se

are notoriously  cruel

those mothers

raped and pregnant

have babies

though the rule

is they can never drink the milk

its all going to you

humans who think your mothers

are the animals pursue

sacrifice for those  babies

honestly they  are killed

they suffer how they suffer

as and when their blood is spilled

after about  4 pregnancies

the cow then becomes lame

she becomes a downer

yes the very same

she cannot walk

her  udders are swollen

and full of pus

she’s sitting in a pool of shit

but not making a fuss

she can’t, she is in so much pain

and her heart is broken too

she’s lost 4 calves

and all that milk

alas it went to YOU

for your cornflakes for your cocoa

for you butter for your cheese

the human dairies made the killing

as she fell upon her knees

she had given more than she could give

and knew her children  had died

they were mean’t to have the milk

but of course it was denied

each downer goes to market

in its own shit it does lie

probably if its lucky

they will close their eyes and die

before the slaughter process

the dragging and the hanging

the throats slashed and the head bashed

and that terrible sound of banging

here we see a cow she died

she gave up life was cruel

she lost her tongue on the frozen door

and faltered in the pool

of blood that she then swallowed

I cannot believe that we

can be so bloody ignorant

but we are
