Perceptions and Mr Mark Twain

Its oh! so true Mark Twain was
a man whose perceptions clearly were
far in excess of so many
so with his statement I do concur
the animals are gentle and caring
how they care
and how they are generally
treated
drives me to despair
animals now eaten
have few real rights for they
are bright and oh! so perfect
in every single way
but are given little credence
and an awful lot of pain
and this is so unfair for me
and dear Mr Mark Twain
they have so much to offer
they are anything but dumb
it appears a trait of humans
who themselves can become numb
to an animals perceptions
and intelligence, for they
are arrogantly stupid
and for that the earthling’s pay
