One of 6 calves sent to our death via the auction

Its the heat of the day
here we are on the road
just one of those calves
just part of the load
my wild oats not sown
life hasn’t begun
I was born just this week
and now the hot sun

bakes out of the sky
down on us in this truck
we are so uncomfortable
we don’t know of luck
everything’s negative
that’s how we are
manhandled and left
and we’ve now travelled far

we suffer in silence
if we low we are told
to shut up back there
until we are sold
in the world of rich farmers
us voiceless we know
we don’t mean a thing to them
and for us to grow

it costs them money
that’s why they send
us to be slaughtered
no one’s our friend
no body cares about us anymore
we have to realise
and to be sure

the heat is intense
and we are alone
our breathing is hard
I want to groan
I want to cry out
I want to be heard
but nobody anywhere is tied
to my word

we are lost in the world
we are babies but we
are soon to be slaughtered
and purposefully
lost in the ether of nothingness
and
not even a memory left
on the land

being tossed every which way
to front and to back
bruising us refusing us
water we lack
so dehydrated so full of woe
so lost,and so sad
that they want to throw

us out with the bath water
that’s what they do
force us to move faster
thinking of you
the vegans, the animals rights souls
who fight
who take on the world for us
who saw the light

long ago thank you
we try very hard
to understand why
as souls we are barred
from life and humanity
and we will be
slashed at and bled out
into purgatory

I’m one of 6 calves
fighting for breath
on the journey to hell
on the journey where death
will come with his sickle
and tear me apart
for I’m just a baby
with a broken heart
