Barry Horne RIP (He gave his life for the animal earthlings)

I gave my life
So others might live
But so many are dying still
Sadly we give
Little attention to those
victims who
suffer in silence
for the corporates who
Using money, warped minds
from the medical world
Who will torture and kill
Having churlishly hurled
Their ethics away
For the wages they get
Creating and evil
and sad karmic debt

Barry Horne born,
in Liverpool,He
Left school at 15 and seemed lost
frantically,
became a road sweeper
a Dustman until
he moved to Northampton
and got quite a fill
Of the animal rights or wrongs
and became
Vegetarian and his pure heart
was aflame.

With the evils of experimentation
he saw
With the shops selling fur
Which he did abhor
The hags on the catwalk
imagining they,
could wear
animal fur in a beautiful way
The designers who he thought
remained too aloof
Saw the trade in trapped animals
go through the roof

And the Government agencies
just bottled out
And the public appeared
overwhelmed and in doubt
He went on a hunger strike
that did destroy
His organs and weaken him
He did employ
his energies
still in fighting the cause
The dolphin in Lancashire
The incendaries, pause
18 years he sent down
Animals, had no rights
They were tortured and slaughtered
out of our sights

forsaken and broken
lost, let us say
In the corporate jungle
of hate and dismay.
On the 5th Of November
2001
His soul left his body
and rose to the sun
He was quite the angel
as many could see
But as weak as he was
Life left him tragically

Behind those locked doors
the scalpels did cut
Sadists were at it
open and shut
Experimentation by those
white coats who
had their brains sucked away
By the corporate few
Dismemberment happened
day in and day out
The Law was an ass
There was not any doubt
The animals sufferred
and few people cared
Results came about
from those who were spared

Who took it upon themselves
to enter and show
The world what was happening
and now most know
But few are prepared
to take on their case
Humans priority
the human race
for they have the money
thus they have the power
and can maintain the lifestyles
Of the chemical shower
The Governments propped up
By Corporate power
Supporting the murdering scum
do allow

Licence to maim,to experiment on
In the great name of Science
And so many have gone
To the bins to be chopped up
as food for the pets
The Government takes VAT
and just lets
The fodder the dead souls
Be ground in this way
The corporates profit
and so it does pay
Barry Horne knew this
He felt for his friends
The voiceless the choiceless
Whom no one defends
He felt their agony
He felt their pain
And he destroyed himself
In his spirit to gain

He was an angel of mercy
for he
Though described as a terrorist
some now can see
He was right, and his sacrifice
brought to a head
The terrible waste of life
but he was dead
But ALF carries on
his seeds have been sown
The ugliness carries on
More than was known
The corporate struggle
to maximise power
To make rafts of profit
Just any old how
Continues, and people like
Barry will be
emerging and converging
On their history
Something must happen
The killing must stop
When the great Pharmaceutical giants
will flop
Having slaughtered the animals
and indeed the poor
They will feel the backlash
like never before.
