Why should they be
Looked down upon
If it were me
A women found with
A healing streak
Using herbs and potions
I would surely seek
Out her knowledge
For let me say
Healing women
Compared to today
Where sadly BIG PHARMA
Whose arrogance rules
And ignorance surely
Suggests that more fools
Distanced from herbals
Distanced from thought
Where there is less reasoning
From what is bought

The witch or the healer
Is a positive sign
The church and the ignorant
Try to malign
Men often jealous
Of uncertainty
Fallible brutes
Who fail miserably
Old houses have stood
There through storm
And through flood
It was thought a live cat
In the loft space
Or hearth
Retaining the positive
And down that path
Many might go
Thinking witches again
Would be frightened away
And thereby refrain

From going there
But what we ought to see
Is cats are inquisitive
And normally
hide
In dark places in attics
And holes
And so might get trapped somewhere
And starve
As to roles
for demons and ghosties
And witches galore
Healing women
I love them
Thus I am sure
A horses skull
And pairs of old shoes
Under the stairs
People just lose
them
In those dark spaces
collections of things
Where rubbish is left
For the rag and bone kings
Its illogicality
Not intuition
Its born out of ignorance
And the transmission
Of sophistry really
An unfounded thought
Of the church and the Bible
Bashers who taught

The poor and the frightened
And now today
If you talk up the ghosties
Then people will pay
More for a house
With a resident ghost
No the healing women
Are the ones I love most
