War’s sad face

What man can do to man
in times that he calls war
obliterate great cities
fill them up with gore
slaughter little children
with his vast array of power
blow tall buildings skywards
and watch, the infernal shower
he dissolves the vast arena
and all who in it play
the women and the children
and the animal earthlings, they
helped to spread
the fabric
but were gunned down
in the rain
of bullets that
lit up the sky
and caused the greatest pain
the clouds were black with gunfire
the buildings crushed and thrown
into mounds of rubble
glass shards cut through bone
depleted the uranium
that vile distasteful woe
that exploded in theatre
and destroyed us as we know
armour piercing terror
rained down on babies who
now lie in the rubble
completely torn into
crushed by falling masonry
eyes open
blood stained they
stare up intoo heaven
not very far away
