Its the heat of the day
\nhere we are on the road
\njust one of those calves
\njust part of the load
\nmy wild oats not sown
\nlife hasn’t begun
\nI was born just this week
\nand now the hot sun<\/p>\n
bakes out of the sky
\ndown on us in this truck
\nwe are so uncomfortable
\nwe don’t know of luck
\neverything’s negative
\nthat’s how we are
\nmanhandled and left
\nand we’ve now travelled far<\/p>\n
we suffer in silence
\nif we low we are told
\nto shut up back there
\nuntil we are sold
\nin the world of rich farmers
\nus voiceless we know
\nwe don’t mean a thing to them
\nand for us to grow<\/p>\n
it costs them money
\nthat’s why they send
\nus to be slaughtered
\nno one’s our friend
\nno body cares about us anymore
\nwe have to realise
\nand to be sure<\/p>\n
the heat is intense
\nand we are alone
\nour breathing is hard
\nI want to groan
\nI want to cry out
\nI want to be heard
\nbut nobody anywhere is tied
\nto my word<\/p>\n
we are lost in the world
\nwe are babies but we
\nare soon to be slaughtered
\nand purposefully
\nlost in the ether of nothingness
\nand
\nnot even a memory left
\non the land<\/p>\n
being tossed every which way
\nto front and to back
\nbruising us refusing us
\nwater we lack
\nso dehydrated so full of woe
\nso lost,and so sad
\nthat they want to throw<\/p>\n
us out with the bath water
\nthat’s what they do
\nforce us to move faster
\nthinking of you
\nthe vegans, the animals rights souls
\nwho fight
\nwho take on the world for us
\nwho saw the light<\/p>\n
long ago thank you
\nwe try very hard
\nto understand why
\nas souls we are barred
\nfrom life and humanity
\nand we will be
\nslashed at and bled out
\ninto purgatory<\/p>\n
I’m one of 6 calves
\nfighting for breath
\non the journey to hell
\non the journey where death
\nwill come with his sickle
\nand tear me apart
\nfor I’m just a baby
