Memories of those frontier days
\nthat grandpa talked of
\nwe
\nare here to witness
\nwhat they do
\nand really how to be
\na man
\na real live frontier man
\nwho runs the steers
\nand rides
\nthe bronco’s
\nhe’s a real live man
\nwith chaps and tough insides<\/p>\n
off goes the steer a running
\nits heart beating so wild
\nbut, really it in essence
\nis no more than a child
\nscooting down the arena
\nwith the cowboys on its trail
\nthey catch up and ride through it
\nand over it
\nand fail
\nits clear
\nthis steer has had it
\ncrushed and smashed was he
\nthe tractor comes
\nthey manhandle it and tie its legs
\nand we see
\nvery little movement
\nthis healthy steer
\nis gone
\nin seconds it was murdered
\nand this goes on and on<\/p>\n
in the name of rodeo
\na circus in many ways
\nthey are so cruel to the animals
\nthey are not worthy of praise
\nRodeo’s are a sickness of a by gone age
\nwe should ban them or at least
\nstop animals exploited for I gauge
\nthat at the very least
\nthese men have no compassion
\nthey
\ntreated that steer as though
\nit wasn’t hurt
\nand it could pay
\nseeing was believing
\nbelieving what you saw
\nthat steer was bloody done away with
\nof that I was very sure<\/p>\n
a heartless bunch of I don’t knows
\nthey are not cowboys to me
\nthey appear to be just acting
\nthat steers injury
\nwas grave and yet they treated it
\nwith terror in its eyes
\nclearly in so much agony
\ndid the crowd realise
\nI don’t think so
\npeople following the rodeo
\nappear
\nto not understand what’s happening
\nthey are dosed up on the beer
\nand, the bloody barbecue
\nand the music that they hear
\nyou buys yer ticket
\nyou sees the action
\nand perhaps you cry a tear
\nand then you go
\nand forget about the steers they killed
\nthey pay
\nwith their lives
\nto entertain you
