{"id":968,"date":"2012-01-22T23:59:40","date_gmt":"2012-01-22T23:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=968"},"modified":"2012-01-23T00:00:08","modified_gmt":"2012-01-23T00:00:08","slug":"biodynamics-in-kuching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/01\/biodynamics-in-kuching\/","title":{"rendered":"Biodynamics in Kuching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A Biodynamic Farm someway from kuching<br \/>\nCacao was the specialism here<br \/>\nBut fish in ponds and Ducks and loads of chickens, and varied fruits that brought the family cheer<br \/>\nA really mature Durian Tree and pineapples in pots<br \/>\nWater melons as crimson and as sweet<br \/>\nAs anything that I have ever tasted<br \/>\nAnd Chinese pointed olives, the elite<br \/>\nOf Olives, in the Chaojiu kitchens<br \/>\nSalty but a terrific tasty treat<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Managed by a man of dedication, 2 Dayak helpers and a Penan who<br \/>\nAll wanted to live out his great vision<br \/>\nA real hard slog with smiling faces too<br \/>\nSurrounded by deep jungle, hot and very wet<br \/>\nOne could really hear plants growing the freedom not to let<br \/>\nThe reason why we got up early every single day<br \/>\nAnd went out in the morning as the sun showed us the way<br \/>\nWe worked all day at those aching chores<br \/>\nand came back before the skies<br \/>\nLost the light completely and were made to realise<br \/>\nWe always were exhausted and our hands were black and blue<br \/>\nFrom stripping side shoots, cracking fallen pods, under our shoe<br \/>\nFor otherwise the pods would harbour the Denggi mosquito and<br \/>\nCould cause a horrid outbreak to spread across the land<br \/>\nSo we went out there, every day under a blazing sky<br \/>\nGenerally endocrine disrupters would be sprayed on high<br \/>\nFrom the most inadequate sprayers, young women, aimed the jet<br \/>\nTo hold back tears each time, I recollect, the gals I met<br \/>\nWhere the richer farmers made their staff, spray right through the plants<br \/>\nYoung women with young sisters they didn&#8217;t stand a chance<br \/>\nStirring these vile substances with bare hands,and with tears<br \/>\nNothing to protect them they were little dears<br \/>\nWith awful scars,and where breathing was so difficult to do<br \/>\nSacrificing those poor women<br \/>\nDark days for us all<br \/>\nAnd so many of the corporations really made a fool<br \/>\nOf anyone who tried to change the practice now abroad<br \/>\nStopping it,cost money which they could ill afford<br \/>\nThe artisan chocolate processor was as rare<br \/>\nas a white tapir<br \/>\nBut a BD Farmer is prepared to work hard which is clear<br \/>\nDay and night, hands bleeding like Daniel<br \/>\nHe didn&#8217;t stop<br \/>\nBut most paid the young girls to slave and spray Lindane all day<br \/>\nAnd they sat on their balconies and read The Guardian\u00a0 come what may<br \/>\nBiodynamic Farming of Cocoa clearly does<br \/>\nImprove the rich environment and it gave me a buzz<br \/>\nAnd it wasn&#8217;t from the caffiene but from the<br \/>\nknowledge base<br \/>\nanthroposphical training brought wisdom and brought grace<br \/>\nHis fish were in ponds, beneath his chicken stacks<br \/>\nThe Ducks and chicken fed would let the seed drop through the cracks<br \/>\nSome of the faeces also would fall into the pond<br \/>\nexciting the biggest of the worms on which the fish were fond<br \/>\nAnd so they grew much faster and were sold<br \/>\nat market they<br \/>\nWere also bought by Hotels and restaurants<br \/>\nand a good price they did pay<br \/>\nChicken Eggs and Duck Eggs the shells of which were brown<br \/>\nwere also sold at a premium on the stalls in Kuching Town<br \/>\nMy visit to the Farm was satisfying<br \/>\nI worked hard all the time that I was there<br \/>\nI learned a great deal and tasted some amazing fruits<br \/>\nAnd the families generosity did share<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
