Freedom to run
\nFreedom to Play
\nFreedom they cannot
\ntake that away
\nNor can the men
\nwith their ugly guns
\nTheir broken hearts
\nand their jealous sons<\/p>\n
Friendship,
\nwe have friendship
\nAnd an awareness
\nall can feel
\nWe walk in
\neach others shadow
\nAnd when walking
\nout reveal<\/p>\n
our pups we love
\nTheir future lies,
\nwithin their tiny frames
\nWe are going
\nto show them power
\nAnd play our
\nwild wolf games<\/p>\n
All cower
\nbefore the Condor
\nand also the Mountain Lion
\nAs in the
\ntwinkling twilight
\nEach snowy hill
\nwe climb<\/p>\n
To sink one’s teeth
\nIn a fresh clean kill
\nWith all its juices
\nrunning still
\nTo taste that really fresh
\nkilled beast
\nMakes for a
\nsatisfactory feast<\/p>\n
Men, are the worst enemy
\nTo the apex killer
\nrunning free
\nTrapping, shooting,
\nconvolution
\nIs there to be
\na good solution<\/p>\n
In the misty veil
\nof evening
\nThere stands a
\nmysterious orb of light
\nOut there by the mountain side
\nA bouncy Bison
\nlooking bright<\/p>\n
a 1000 pounder
\nthat,would feed
\nA family, for a while
\nLone and I might bring
\nit down
\nWith some honest guile<\/p>\n
But we would have
\nto watch ourselves
\nFor a blow from a Bison
\nCould break our back
\nCrush a leg
\nHurt us so and all of this
\nWith one attack<\/p>\n
When suddenly,
\ndown from the sky
\nA smothering of pellets
\nDid higgly
\npiggly all around us<\/p>\n
Yes they just did<\/p>\n
Lie<\/p>\n
Just everywhere
\nA fishy smell
\nLive Vaccine Baits
\nDropped down from hell
\nInside each bait Rabies
\nVaccine
\nLive and hoping
\nTo set the scene<\/p>\n
To dose up
\nimmune
\nsystems around
\nAnd to kill
\nthe
\nRabies on the ground<\/p>\n
We chose to leave them
\nFor men we know
\nOften try to steal
\nour show
\nBy using a hammer
\nto kill an ant
\nAnd end up
\nwith an ugly rant<\/p>\n
The Bison lived
\nanother day
\nAnd we, well we,
\nwent on our way
\nA rabbit here,
\na young Elk there
\nsome earthworms,the odd mouse
\na Bear<\/p>\n
Came running
\na bit too near
\nAnd we just changed course
\nFor it was clear
\nThat bear was angry
\nit had lost a cub
\nand was anxious
\nand clearly
\nready to blub<\/p>\n
But a mile or so on
\nshe was there
\nwith 3 small cubs
\nand an answered prayer
\nAll was happy
\nlots of joy
\nClearly she’s found
\nher little boy<\/p>\n
Lone and I
\nwe ran around
\nJust seeing what
\nwas to be found
\nThe snow was melting
\nin the sun
\nand little rivulets
\ndid run<\/p>\n
And where the rays
\nhad found
\nfortune
\nA plant or two,
\nsprang forth
\nand soon
\nwas joined by others
\nWhat sweet power
\nThat draws from the earth
\nthe petal shower<\/p>\n
A lizard here,
\nwild birds there
\nThose vaccines
\ncoming from up there
\nIn one of those
\nsilvery noisy planes
\nWith a man high
\nholding on to reins<\/p>\n
Its firery engines
\nsplutter so
\nIn the katabatic
\nwinds
\nthat blow<\/p>\n
Lone and I both made it back
\nThe sisters had
\ncaught an Elk
\nIts back
\nwas still intact
\nand smelled real sweet
\nWe tackled it, we had to eat<\/p>\n
A bit of it
\nand then laid down
\nTo reminisce
\non the day
\nAnd in the comfort
\nof our cave
\nBeside each other lay.<\/p>\n
