In days gone by
\nthe women were the foragers
\nthey took their wisdom into forests where
\nthey collected at the rivers edge
\nthe ramsons and the nutty sedge
\nthe need was clearly
\nto be more aware
\nthe wild one’s known as Lisa’s
\ncame to offer
\ntheir senses more attuned
\nwere they to those
\nnegatives that wandered
\nin dark places
\nto frighten and to harm
\nI do suppose
\na vixen cocked and ear or two
\nand would alert the women who
\ncould realise that danger was
\nclose to her
\nand just because
\nof that these women tended to
\nbe guided by the wild souls who
\nfelt valued by all women kind
\ntheir preciousness they underlined
\neach was able to share an aura
\nof the whole sweet forest flora
\na practical and compliant friend
\nan eagerness to help and send
\na spontaneousness of course to lend
\nand on occasions to defend
\nin days gone by
\nthe wild one’s knew
\ntheir ears and eyes
