Nikki is a sow who was waiting for her death
\nin a corporate camp and was given another chance
\nwhen the flood waters rescued and swept her out the door
\nshe swam off, had her babies
\nand looked after them for sure<\/p>\n
she was just no numbskull
\nnot even a bit
\nvery smart and able
\nthis story is no fable
\nthe agony she’d had
\nwhere did it sit<\/p>\n
when the floods came
\nshe was out the door
\nand swimming on her way
\nfound a dry spot on the land
\nbuilt her nest a way above
\nhad her piglets there
\nlooked after them
\nshe saved them
\nshe showed she did care<\/p>\n
had they been in the piggery
\nshe would now be dead
\nthe piglets would have all
\nbeen tortured
\nof course all underfed
\nthe boars would have been
\nslammed into the concrete long ago
\nthat’s what happens to them
\nif you didn’t know<\/p>\n
now they are in a sanctuary
\nand their life will be good and long
\nout there in the woods they be
\nlearning right from wrong<\/p>\n
Symphony is a chicken
\nfrom some Ohio shed
\nintelligent and able
\na Tornado could have led
\nher up the garden path
\nit ruined many months ago
\nbut she got out and
\nlimped away
\nthe horrors as we know
\nthose filthy cages
\nwere so small she couldn’t flap her wings
\nthe wind tore through the battery
\nwith the mayhem that it brings<\/p>\n
she’s now in a sanctuary
\nfound in a tattered state
\nwandering down the highway
\nat quite a painful rate
\nmost of her feathers blown away
\nher feet cut by the wire
\nbut able to escape the hell
\nthat had become so dire<\/p>\n
Fanny she a cow just 4 years old
\nbut tired and lame
\nnot much more than a baby
\nalmost out of the frame
\nhow cows in CAFO’s suffer
\ntwo lots of calves she bore
\nwere taken and were slaughtered
\nbut her they did ignore<\/p>\n
but now here in a sanctuary
\nshe whiles her way, away
\ntrying to forget the grief
\nfeeling she did pay
\na high price for existence
\nas a farm animal but she
\ngot a second chance to live
\nand is taking it she be<\/p>\n
in a place of safety
\nwith green fields and with friends
\nshe can feel the sunshine
\nand try to make amends<\/p>\n

\nit does occur
\nto me that this is lovely
\nreally lovely, to behold
\nif more of us were vegan
\nthen more stories could be told<\/p>\n
