Its true so many eat the
\nflesh of noble beasts
\nwho truly cared
\nwho lived short lives
\nsad lives at best
\nand died in agony
\nthey shared
\nbeing born an animal
\nwho people chose to eat
\nto cut up into pieces
\npack in pristine trays
\nso far removed from actuality
\nofcourse it pays
\nto recall the actual earthling
\nthat gentle earthling, who
\nwas butchered hung and drawn
\nsomeone like you
\ncould roast its flesh with carrots
\nand a bread sauce yes perhaps
\nthis poor soul wanted so much
\nto live
\nto feel the slaps
\nof caring on its buttocks
\neven the electric prod
\njust a little further time
\nto taste the fresh wet sod
\nand now somewhere in China
\na dog stuck in some sack
\nis being beaten on the floor
\nthe poor souls taking flack
\none wonders what goes on inside the butchers
\nheart and why
\nhe feels the need to do this
\nwhen my need is to cry
\nthat dog must be beside himself
\nbeing beaten so
\nthose cows caught in the slaughterhouse

\nso children can soon gorge themselves
\nwith oven chips and peas
\ngobble all that abject fear
\nand finish their meal with cheese
\nand biscuits
\nmade from milk, of course
\nstolen from the calf
\nan innocent born recently
\nwho didn’t live a half
\na week
\npoor soul was slaughtered
\nhung up like his mum
\nhis throat was torn a’sunder
\nhis blood pounded like a drum
\non the white tiled mezzanine
\nhis sinews and his guts
\npulverized I’m sorry
\nas the slaughterhouse gate shuts
\nI sink down on my knees
\nand cry my heart out for tonight
\nI feel so much for those animals
\nwho lost their power of light
\nthey didn’t want to die
\ntheir voices and they eyes
\nappealed to all humanity
\nI won’t listen to the lies
\nthat many tell about them
\nthey were noble they were calm
\nthey were loving they were hopeful
\nhopeful that the farm
\nthey lived at would have loved them
\nwould have cherished them but they
\nwere sacrificed for profit

The dog succumbs
\nits tragic life
\nwas thrown out on the street
\ncollected by the bin men
\nand now of course a fleet
\nof vans piled high with canines
\nof every sort and breed
\nwill be dispatched to the rainbow bridge
\nso the Chinese now can feed<\/p>\n
on their white flesh crawling with fear
\nboiled up with noodles
\nI can hear
\nthe yelping and the barking too
\nas waste is discharged in the loo
\nits lives created at a cost
\nbrutally murdered so much lost
\nin every facet of what we see
