Greenland has the courage of their convictions
\nthey are prepared to listen and to see
\nthat drilling for oil in what is the last
\ngreat wilderness
\ncould bring about a vast catastrophe
\nObama gave the go ahead to Royal Dutch Shell
\nbut due to the public outcry
\nthey agreed
\nnot to drill last year perhaps
\nthey felt the fear
\nrising for it was rising
\nindeed
\nAleqa Hammond Greenland’s new Prime Minister
\nhas made it now so abundantly clear
\nlicences wont be issued its just not going to happen
\nthe Beaufort and the Chukchi seas, appear
\noff the drilling map at least for the moment
\na million or so people have said No
\nPetitions have been given to Obama
\nwho wants to see the oil begin to flow
\nout of there is what Obama’s after
\nand Russia clearly is now on the case
\nCairn Energy has lost its rights to drill there
\nits applications dead, something to face<\/p>\n
we know the Obama camp they do not listen
\nthe people do not matter and it may
\nhappen that they will drill in the Arctic
\nBut Greenland have at last said no no way
\nafter all they live there its their future
\nthe environment is shared across the world
\ndespite the rush for oil around this planet
\nthe threats are there and if we all were hurled
\ninto that sick scenario the future
\nto mankind would be catastrophic too
\nsometimes we must stand back and so realise
\nthis is something nobody should do
\nour greed and arrogance is far from over
\nbut at least Greenland has told the world that they
\nsee the safety of this planet now as paramount
\nit took courage and lets hope they’ve saved the day<\/p>\n
my fear is that Obama sees the Russians
\nfrustration clearly is a now on the boil
\nthey do not care a monkeys about environments
\nwhat they care about about of course is OIL
\nand so the question plays out behind closed doors
\nannouncements will be made, and we will see
\nfracking has the backing of the oligarchs
\nand I’m sure the drilling’s will take place and be
\nthe catastrophe that everybody speaks of
\nfor profit and the race to be the first
\nis too great for the American administration
