Live exports are an anathema
\nto many, for we see
\nsentient beings shipped around
\nby trailer and by sea
\nwe know the stress that’s caused to us
\nwhen understanding does
\naccompany these journeys
\nbut imagine how the buzz
\nof change and unseen stresses do
\nplay havoc with the animals
\nwho take a different view<\/p>\n
of really what is happening
\nnew noises, outlook and
\nno real chance to relax at all
\nand try to understand
\nmanhandling at shipment
\ndemonstratively, they do
\nshow their inner most feelings
\nand honestly may rue
\nthe day it ever happened
\nthe inner stresses may
\ncreate in the unsuspecting
\na kind of different way<\/p>\n
in which things manifest in them
\na tedium and a will
\nto cope with what’s on offer
\nas emotions kind of spill
\nout across the others
\nwhich can spread like
\nwild fire through
\nthe majority, it spooks them
\nfor they know not what to do<\/p>\n
panic, fright an insatiable desire
\nto escape what is
\nthe constraints that present
\nthemselves as dire
\nit spreads
\nits a contagion
\nthe angst of what is new
\nand fright can create mayhem
\nin their inner working too<\/p>\n
and then of course arrival
\nsome hauled into the air
\nand swung about
\nthis torture
\ncan lead to much despair
\nthe ride then to the
\nslaughterhouse or perhaps
\neven a car
\nthrown in the boot
\nthe separation and the journey, far<\/p>\n
the violence and the different smells
\nimagine it, will you?
\nlive exports have that woeful side
\nthat steady build up too
\nwhat is a violent ending, shocked, and made to be
\nmurdered by some foreigner
\nand then, well, swinging free
\nblood loss
\nall that agony
\nthose vicious violent sounds
\nspluttering
\nhearts fluttering
\nin our own blood which drowns<\/p>\n
the life force
\nthe emotion
\nthe circumstance
\nthe woe
\nlive exports
\nare an anathema
